It's been a bit since the last update. Damn. Guess that's how personal projects go when you are a real adult. That doesn't mean I haven't made progress! Here are a few pictures...
The Engine: Snort. It's been developed using this Master's Thesis https://ir.library.oregonstate.edu/concern/graduate_projects/76537857k and is in the public domain!
More information to come :) working hard to build and test and an engine this summer!
And I'm looking for sponsors! Please reach out on twitter
Hello. My name is Hyunsoo Yoo, and I'm an engineering student at Embry Riddle @ Prescott, Arizona.
ReplyDeleteI've learned some time ago that those bomber propellant tanks are rated for a good amount of pressure (I believe it could even do 1000 psi), but my friend at purdue who was also planning to use those tanks have been told by one of his professors that they are NOT meant to be "cycled." Meaning that they cannot be used for something like a lander nor a test cell. I may be wrong, but I would recommend looking a bit more into it.
Regardless, the lander brings in some old masten vibes.. I love it.
good to know, I'll just have to let you know how it goes. I don't see a reason why they couldn't be cycled, as they're just stainless steel, and at low pressure
